Overview

SinkerCalc ("we", "our", "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we handle your information.

Location Data

SinkerCalc requests your location solely to find the nearest NOAA tidal current station and to fetch local wind conditions from Open-Meteo. Your coordinates are used only at the moment of the request to query these public APIs. We do not store, log, or transmit your location data to any server we operate. If you deny location permission, you can manually search for a tide station instead.

Data Collection

SinkerCalc does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to external servers. All data you enter (rod profiles, saved spots, session logs, settings) is stored locally on your device only.

What We Don't Collect

• No names, email addresses, or account information
• No persistent location tracking
• No health or medical data
• No usage analytics or behavioral tracking
• No cookies or advertising identifiers

Local Storage

The app stores your rod profiles, saved spots, session logs, and settings locally on your device using Hive (local database). This data never leaves your device. Uninstalling the app deletes all stored data.

In-App Purchases

Subscription purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not have access to your payment information, Apple ID, or billing details. Subscription management is handled through your Apple ID settings.

Push Notifications

The app uses local notifications only (scheduled on your device) for tide change alerts. No data is sent to any push notification server. You can enable or disable notifications in the app's settings.

Third-Party Services

• NOAA CO-OPS: Tidal current and tide prediction data is fetched from NOAA's public API (api.tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov). No personal data is transmitted. NOAA data is in the public domain.
• Open-Meteo: Wind speed and direction data is fetched from Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com, CC BY 4.0). Coordinates are sent to retrieve weather data. No personal identifiers are transmitted. See Open-Meteo terms.
• RevenueCat: Used for subscription management. RevenueCat may collect anonymous transaction data as described in their privacy policy. No personally identifiable information is shared.

Children's Privacy

This app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
